The Betrayal
I n the Droichead Sector on Saros Prime, a diverse and oppressed world, a profound betrayal was poised to unfold. Arch-Cardinal Caelum Vossk, an initially charismatic figure within the Ecclesiarchy, had been perceived as the sector's potential leader and a close ally of the Hyperion Raiders. The inhabitants of the sector had long yearned for liberation and justice, as the failing Confederacy had left them wanting. Vossk had seemed to be their beacon of hope. However, hidden behind his charismatic facade, Vossk had concealed ulterior motives. He ultimately orchestrated a devastating ambush against the trusting Hyperion Raiders, shattering their faith and inflicting heavy casualties. One of the Hyperion Raiders' Scouts, Mara Tyrexia, found herself alone on Hesperia. This led to her being captured by The Swarm. Her capture marked a pivotal moment in the unfolding events.
Vossk's son, Lucian, could not condone his father's oppressive ideology. He chose to assist the Hyperion Raiders in overthrowing the Arch-Cardinal. Vossk was subsequently apprehended as a heretic, and the Raiders carried the enduring scars of this betrayal, solidifying their commitment to protecting the oppressed and resisting tyranny. This experience forged their identity as unwavering champions of freedom, justice, and unity in the face of a harsh and unforgiving galaxy. The Ordo Hereticus sent an inquisitor to investigate.
In response, the Ecclesiarchy exonerated the Hyperion Raiders of any wrongdoing towards the organization and the Imperium. Lucian assumed leadership of the Ecclesiarchy in the sector, utilizing its resources for rebuilding. While the citizens of the Droichead Sector remained cautious of Lucian, the Hyperion Raiders regarded him as a steadfast ally.
